OVERVIEW\nThe Vestax VMC-185XL replaces the PCV-275 & PCV-180 as Vestax's midlevel 3 channel mixer. It is built on the same base format as those successful models with a few changes in features and a sturdier construction. The Vestax VMC-185XL comes equipped with Vestax's PCV crossfader (the same one used is scratch mixers like the Vestax PMC-05 Pro III) and has an impressive list of features aimed to satisfy a wide range of DJ applications. Most important is the sheer number of inputs available, which gives you the flexibility to control a large amount of equipment with a single mixer. \n\nFEATURES\nThe Vestax VMC-185XL includes 3 channels with up to 8 total lines available plus 2 mic inputs, and offers some unique ways of controlling and monitoring your sound. To begin with, each channel is equipped with standard trim and balance controls, plus a powerful 3 band EQ that goes from kill up to 4db capabilities, and a switch for turning off the EQ's completely. The effects send and return signals are assignable to all 3 channels, and each channel has the option of selecting pre-or post-fader effects and has its own effects level control. The mic inputs are split into a main mic, which has its own level control and 2 band EQ, and a sub mic, which is assigned and controlled by the sub (middle channel). The main mic channel also has the option of assigning post-effects. \n\nThere are two master outputs, both of which have level controls on the main panel. The Master 1 output also has a balance control and features XLR outs, while the Master 2 output (booth) has 1/4" outs without balance control. There are two headphone jacks, one on the top face of the mixer and one on the front face. The headphone monitor can also be assigned to "split," which means you hear the master in one ear & your assigned monitor channel in the other, or "stereo," which means no master is heard and only the channel you select to monitor are heard.\n\nEFFECT SEND & RETURN (PGM)\nThe Vestax VMC-185XL offers a flexible Effect Send & Return with master return volume and individual send volumes (rotaries) per PGM. This allows the DJ total control over the amount of each PGM added to the effects and the amount of overall effect volume versus other mixers that simply provide effect ON or OFF switches. Effects can also be inserted "Pre" or "Post" channel fader and cross fader.\n\n3-BAND ISOLATOR\nThe Vestax VMC-185XL features a superb 3-band isolator on each PGM. Unlike other mixers, the isolator on the VMC-185XL offers infinity cut (100%), and a boost of +4dB allowing the DJ to remove 100% of the Low, Mid and Highs. Each isolator EQ also has on/off switches giving the DJ extra dynamics options in track build up or breakdown.\n\n\nPCV Fader\nThe VMC-185XL's PCV fader provides total accuracy and improved feel while ensuring perfect acoustic clarity. The Curve Control allows the fader to have either a gradual or sharp fade in and out.\n\nUser Upgradeable Input Fader\nThe VMC-185XL faders are upgradeable to the IF-37 60mm PVC faders, which are same input faders used on the PMC-37Pro. The IF-37 PCV(Plastic Conductive Volume) is a highgrade fader typically used on the most expensive mixers. Users who are after very smooth input controls with very best in sound are recommended to upgrade to the IF-37 fader.\n\nNumerous Input Possibilities\nThe VMC-185XL provides eight inputs to choose from in addition to 2 MIC inputs. Of the eight inputs, 3 are dedicated to phono (RCA) with the rest being stereo line inputs (RCA). PGM1 and PGM2 both have 2 x RCA line inputs and 1 x Phono input while the Sub Channel has 1 Phono input and 1 line input. Switches at the top of each PGM are used to select between any of the inputs on a per PGM basis.\n\nMIC Inputs\nThe main MIC has a cue select switch and can also be assigned to the external effects send. The signal sent from the main MIC channel to the effects unit is POST EQ. The Sub MIC input found next to the main MIC input feeds the "Sub" channel which offers the three band Isolator and Stereo Effect Send & Return.\n\nMaster & Sub Master Controls\nBoth the master output and the sub master output have separate volume level controls. This is helpful for live performances when the sub master can be used as a separate booth monitor, or in installed situations where the sub master can feed an additional zone.
